Samuel PIERCE. Born 6 Oct 1797 in Rockingham, Windham, VT. Died 28 Jun 1872 in ??, Essex Co., NY. Buried in
Riverside Cemetery, Wadhams, NY. Occupation Farmer.

Samuel Pierce owned property in Langdon, Sullivan County, New Hampshire which he sold March 5, 1824. In May of 1826
he accompanied his father, mother, and siblings to Essex County, New York where he purchased property.
According to my great uncle, Raymond PIERCE (15 February 1908 - 30 October 1984), "When Samuel PIERCE bought
the homestead, the man he bought it from went out to the road to leave. Before leaving, he turned back to get one last drink of
water because he liked it so well." [Ref.: Interview with Raymond PIERCE, Wadhams, Essex County, New York. 22 May
1982]
"Samuel PIERCE owned a great deal of land around here -- it has been in the family for four generations!" [Ref.: Interview
with Raymond PIERCE, Wadhams, Essex County, New York. 22 May 1982]
